Dear students,

the next week is coming to an end and in this news, I would like to give a review and outlook for all of you.

Review

We had our first interactive seminar last week. It was an enriching session in many ways. This includes your great commitment in preparing the knowledge pieces in advance, but also in the session itself. The main components of the seminar were:

  • ‘Get to know each other’: If you want to know who's in the class with you, take a look at the results of the Mentimeter survey
  • Discussion on ‘Why is International Marketing important?’
  • Kicking off feedback process: Together we developed rules on how best to give feedback specifically on a digital presentation. My personal list based on experience can be found in Moodle in the section: Feedback and Mistake culture (skill cube 1)
  • Announcement of projects and exam assignment: you will have the chance to work on Atlas Copco as well as on Shiseido. The relevant exam assignment was presented and discussed in detail. The exam assignment is as well published in the moodle course room now.

News about 'Part 1 Fundamentals' and 'Skill Cube Feedback & Mistake Culture'

In the spirit of the continuous learning process and the flipped classroom, the first two videos are online on the topic 'Fundamentals in International Marketing' (video 1: An Overview, video 2: a closer look to 4P, 7P and Save).

In total 14 submissions for the Nespresso Marketing Plan were uploaded (Task 1). I will provide feedback on your submissions by the end of next week.

After you have developed this first draft, it is now worthwhile to take a closer look on your project cases and the related brand (Task 2). As of today, a new task 'Exercise: Brand Identity, Digital Presentation, Feedback' is uploaded. You will find it in the section 'Fundamentals of International Marketing'. This task is designed for you to work on in your examination groups. You create a brand identity using your project as an example and train giving and receiving feedback. Additionally, you will now practice digital presentations by creating a screencast. Please work on this in the team until Oct. 23, 2021. This task is intended exclusively for peer group feedback and will not be reviewed by us teachers. Take part and combine working on your project cases, digital presentations and giving and receiving feedback.

Support: You can find tutorials to help you create screencasts in the 'Examination' section.

News about ‘Examination Deadlines and Modalities’

You will now also find the exact examination assignment in moodle. In case of questions please ask them here and we will answer to them as soon as we can. Please do not forget two important deadlines:

  • If you want to take the exam this semester, please register via the portal by Friday, October 22nd.
  • Register your team and your choice of brand and send an email to Medina Ferizovic (medina.ferizovic@hs-ruhrwest.de) until October 15, 2021 latest (we appreciate earlier registration).

Have fun with the solution of the tasks. You will receive a new update next week.
